You may have never heard of it, but if you are a Chrome user, chances are you’ve used Google’s QUIC protocol.
So, what’s the big deal here? QUIC is Google’s experimental, low-latency internet transportation protocol over UDP, a protocol that is often used by gaming, streaming media, and VoIP services. The name ‘QUIC’ stands for Quick UDP Internet Connection.
- Many users might have faced the issue while accessing streaming media in Chrome.
Example: YouTube videos not loading as expected, or issues where application enforcement fails to apply.
You may see an error like the one in the screenshot below:
- If you disable QUIC Protocol in Google Chrome, then you might not face this problem again. Once you disable QUIC, then your web surfing capacity will also improve in your browser.
- Follow the steps below to disable QUIC protocol on Google Chrome internet:
- Open Google Chrome.
- In the URL address field, type chrome://flags and press Enter.
- Type quic in the Search flags field to filter the list of flags. Select the option ”Disabled” from the drop-down menu next to Experimental QUIC protocol.
- Restart Google Chrome for your changes to take effect.
